Mr. Benett Freeman, the a co-founder of the Cotton Camaign and former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, made the statement that “The Cotton Campaign applauds the continued commitment of the Government of Uzbekistan to this historic process of reform to end forced labor in cotton sector. Global Textile is proud making a significant contribution to the coalition's decision to end the boycott of Uzbek cotton.
In January 2020, at the invitation of the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cotton Campaign coalition visited our country to get acquainted with the activities of textile enterprises. As part of the program, the delegation also visited Global Textile. At the meeting there was a presentation of the possibilities and principles of Fergana Global cotton-textile cluster Textile, as well as company’s transparency and openness to new markets.
During the discussion, M. Razakov noted: “We want to show and prove to the entire world community that Uzbekistan is moving in the right direction and is taking all measures to eradicate forced labor already at the legislative level. I sincerely believe that by joint efforts we will be able to cancel the boycott of international companies to the textile products of Uzbekistan and make a feasible contribution to the development of textile production in the country.” As an additional guarantee of protecting the rights of workers, Global Textile has been audited according to international social standards SEDEX and BSCI and received high marks.
The founder of the Global Textile group of companies also took part in negotiations with representatives of the Cotton Campaign, Human Rights Watch, etc. as part of the government delegation in Belgium.
Undoubtedly, the decision of the Cotton Campaign coalition to end the global cotton boycott provides even more opportunities for the development of Uzbek cotton and many textile organizations in Uzbekistan. In particular, it will allow our company to establish long-term trusting and mutually beneficial relationships with world-famous clothing brands.
On behalf of Global Textile group of companies we congratulate all textile enterprises with cancellation of cotton boycott in Uzbekistan.
