This was the topic of the next training seminar organized for our specialists by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in cooperation with Global Textile.
As the speaker pointed out, organizing the harvesting and processing of organic cotton poses special challenges. This type of cotton is mainly harvested by hand and only organic defoliation methods are used. It is important that organic cotton is not mixed with other types of cotton. For this reason, it is transported to the various sites in special vehicles. Equipment at the GIN is thoroughly cleaned before organic seed cotton will be loaded.
The harvesting, ripening and processing of organic cotton requires a high level of organization and precise operational control. This is the way of providing high production standards.
